Egypt announces its full solidarity with Algeria in the face of the fires

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held a telephone conversation today with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune discussed developments in Algeria and a number of regional issues of common interest, as well as ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency, President Sisi began the call by affirming Egypt’s full solidarity, leadership and people, with Algeria in the face of the fires that have affected several regions, expressing his sincere condolences for the victims of the incident and his wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured. He also affirmed Egypt’s readiness to provide all forms of support and assistance to the Algerian people in this situation.

Historical ties bind Egypt and Algeria

President Sisi stressed the depth of the historical relations that bind Egypt and Algeria, noting the importance of building on the momentum that bilateral relations have witnessed recently, and working to implement the joint understandings and agreements, especially the outcomes of the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Higher Committee held in Cairo in November 2025.

For his part, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his appreciation to President El-Sisi for Egypt's supportive stance, emphasizing that this solidarity reflects the deep historical ties between the two countries and their brotherly peoples. He also outlined the efforts undertaken by the Algerian authorities to control the fires, mitigate their impact, and protect citizens and their property.

The Algerian president affirmed that relations between Cairo and Algiers are witnessing remarkable development, noting that there are broad opportunities to enhance cooperation in various fields, in order to achieve common interests and benefit from the great potential that the two countries possess.

The call also addressed a number of regional issues, with the two presidents affirming their support for efforts to reach a peaceful settlement to the Iranian crisis and their rejection of any infringement on the security and sovereignty of Arab states. They also stressed the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to prevent the escalation of tensions and to enhance coordination and consultation between Egypt and Algeria on various regional issues in light of the current challenges.
