Egypt's ambassador participates in "Protection of Civilians" event to promote respect for international humanitarian law

The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the African Union, Dr. Obeida El-Dandrawi, participated in an event entitled “Protection of Civilians: Promoting Respect for International Humanitarian Law in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies During Armed Conflicts”, which was organized by the embassies of Switzerland and Ghana in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross in Addis Ababa.
This comes within the framework of the Global Initiative to Mobilize Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law (Global IHL Initiative), in which Egypt participates and co-chairs one of its work tracks.
Ambassador Dandrawi stressed the need for the protection of civilians to be at the forefront of international efforts to keep pace with rapid technological developments, noting that international law, including international humanitarian law, remains fully applicable to cyber operations during armed conflicts.

He also highlighted the Egyptian role in supporting the unified African position on the application of international law in cyberspace, stressing the importance of enhancing African participation in international discussions related to cybersecurity and emerging technologies.
The national ambassador’s speech included national efforts in cybersecurity and capacity building, and the importance of strengthening cooperation between African countries to protect civilian infrastructure and basic services.

In a separate context, Ambassador Ahmed Abdel-Azim confirmed، Egypt's ambassador to Liberia، The depth of Egyptian-Liberian relations at various levels, noting that the two countries are linked by close relations based on continuous consultation, political and diplomatic coordination and the exchange of support towards issues of common interest, reflecting the keenness of both sides to enhance bilateral cooperation and push it to broader horizons.
Abdel-Azim revealed in exclusive statements to Zoom Africa News that there are great and diverse opportunities for Egyptian companies in the Liberian market, stressing that both the Egyptian and Liberian sides realize the importance of strengthening trade and investment relations between the two countries, which has been reflected in the intensification of communication channels between businessmen and the private sector on both sides during the past period.
He explained that the joint efforts resulted in holding a number of meetings aimed at introducing the economic potential available to each party, coordinating on proposed areas of cooperation, maximizing the return from trade exchange, in addition to studying opportunities to establish joint investment projects and developing the necessary regulatory frameworks for them.
