Ghana's Vice President unveils major reform package to the community in Canada

Comprehensive development projects and programs to support the economy and jobs in Ghana

Vice President Jane Nana Opoku-Agyemang met with members Ghanaian community In Toronto, Canada, I conveyed greetings from President John Dramani Mahama and provided updates on the government's key programs and national development priorities.

The Vice President praised the progress made in vital sectors, including infrastructure, health care, education, agriculture and economic transformation, stressing the government’s commitment to improving the lives of Ghanaians both at home and abroad.

She also reviewed the key initiatives within the “Rebuilding” agenda, which include the 24-hour continuous economy program, the “Big Push” infrastructure initiative, the “Feed Ghana” program, farmer service centers, the “No Tuition Pressure” policy, the “Mahama Cares” program, free primary health care, and the Women’s Development Bank, all of which aim to expand opportunities, create jobs, support businesses, and promote inclusive growth.

Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous and inclusive Ghana, while encouraging continued engagement between the Ghanaian diaspora and national development efforts.

 

Ghana is banking on traditional leaders to resolve lingering conflicts.

In a separate context, Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama received a delegation from the Bono Regional Chiefs’ House during a visit to the Presidential Palace, where the two sides discussed a number of issues related to local development and strengthening community stability in the region.

 

During the meeting, President Mahama stressed the importance of resolving disputes related to traditional sheikhdom leadership, emphasizing that peace, stability and unity are essential pillars for accelerating development in various communities within the country.

 

The President called on traditional leaders to continue working through established customary and judicial channels to address outstanding disputes peacefully and in an orderly manner, ensuring the preservation of the social fabric.

The President renews his commitment to the development of the Puno region.

The Ghanaian president also affirmed his government’s commitment to supporting the development of Bono region, noting the continued implementation and completion of a number of investment projects in the areas of road infrastructure, health care, education, and agriculture, in addition to local economic development programs within various government initiatives.
