Egypt and Djibouti: A strategic partnership strengthened by Madbouly's participation in the inauguration ceremony

Relations between Egypt and Djibouti This has developed rapidly in recent years, driven by a shared desire to strengthen political, economic and security cooperation, especially given the strategic importance of both countries in the Red Sea and Horn of Africa region.
The participation of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, in the presidential inauguration ceremony Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh, to emphasize the depth of bilateral relations and Cairo’s keenness to expand its partnerships with Djibouti.
Egyptian participation confirms the strength of relations
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly arrived in Djibouti this morning to participate on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in the inauguration ceremony of President Ismail Omar Guelleh.

He was received at Djibouti International Airport by Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed, Prime Minister of Djibouti, and Ambassador Abdel Rahman Raafat, Egypt’s Ambassador to Djibouti.
Counselor Mohamed El-Homsani, the official spokesperson for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, affirmed that the high-level Egyptian participation in the inauguration ceremony reflects the depth of the brotherly relations between the two countries, and Egypt’s keenness to strengthen the frameworks of cooperation with Djibouti in various political, economic and developmental fields.
Growing political and security cooperation
Egypt and Djibouti enjoy strong political relations based on continuous coordination on regional issues, particularly Red Sea security, counterterrorism efforts, and the protection of international shipping lanes. Djibouti holds particular importance for Egypt due to its strategic location overlooking the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, one of the world's most vital maritime chokepoints.
The past years have also witnessed an exchange of official visits between the leaders of the two countries, which have contributed to supporting joint cooperation and strengthening coordination within the African Union and regional organizations.
Economic and development partnership
Economically, Cairo is working to increase trade and investment cooperation with Djibouti, particularly in the areas of maritime transport, ports, energy, and infrastructure. Egypt also offers training programs and scholarships for Djiboutian personnel, in addition to cooperation in the fields of health, education, and capacity building.
The two countries seek to leverage their geographical location to promote trade and investment in the East Africa and Red Sea region.
Promising future prospects
The Egyptian Prime Minister's visit to Djibouti reflects the continued positive momentum in bilateral relations, at a time when Egypt seeks to strengthen its African presence and expand its strategic partnerships on the continent. The coming period is expected to witness increased cooperation between the two countries, serving the interests of both peoples and supporting stability and development in the region.
