Senegal: Textile factory opened in Diamniadio to preserve the craft from extinction

The President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomï Faye, traveled to the airport on the Dakar Regional Express, using the new Diamniadio-AIBD section, which is nearing its opening. He then visited the Sebkoutane station before inaugurating the AVCI Global Industrie factory in Diamniadio.

The AVCI Global Industrie factory in Diamniadio represents the return of the textile profession, which Senegal had almost relegated to the ranks of extinct professions.

Having previously exported its raw cotton, the country will now handle part of the processing locally. The project aims to create 200 jobs, mostly for women and young people, and to transfer skills to Senegal.

Through these tangible achievements, one after another, Senegal is working to build a more independent economy that serves all regions of the country.

The discussions also highlighted the need to adopt coordinated African approaches, based on the realities of the continent, in the face of cross-border threats and current geopolitical changes.

The committee chairman, Guy, affirmed his conviction that achieving sustainable security on the continent depends on preparing trained, cohesive, and committed cadres who can translate ideas into practical actions, noting that the exchange sessions have greatly strengthened this trend.

He expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the discussions and the diversity of viewpoints during this week of meetings, stressing his conviction that cooperation and developing the competencies of officials is the way to build African solutions to African challenges.
