During the launch ceremony, Adanech Abebe emphasized that Addis Ababa had previously suffered from challenges related to poor sanitation and a lack of green spaces, but that efforts made through community participation had contributed to a tangible transformation in the city's reality.

She explained that Addis Ababa is now among the ten cleanest cities in Africa, thanks to the activities and initiatives implemented over the past years.
She stressed that some neighborhoods and areas still need more attention, emphasizing that maintaining cleanliness should not be limited to seasonal campaigns, but should become a daily behavior and a firmly established community culture.

She also indicated that monitoring will be tightened to prevent the dumping of solid waste into rainwater drainage systems and sewage networks, due to the additional damage and risks this may cause, especially with the arrival of the rainy season.

The mayor stressed that solid waste represents an economic resource that can be utilized, calling on all citizens to contribute to making Addis Ababa a clean and healthy city, by promoting sound waste management and establishing a culture of environmental conservation.
