Ambassador Khaled Aref participated in a ceremony honoring Dr. Samah Eid, Director General of the Research Institute Animal health In the Arab Republic of Egypt, which was held on the sidelines of the 14th meeting of the Multilateral Partnership on the Global Sustainable Livestock Agenda (GASL), held in the capital Dakar from June 8 to 11, 2026, under the slogan “From Global Dialogue to Local Action for Resilient and Sustainable Livestock”, with the aim of promoting dialogue, exchanging experiences and supporting the sustainable transformation of the livestock sector within the framework of agri-food systems. .
Samah Eid was honored during the Global Livestock Partnership meeting in Dakar.
On this occasion, the ambassador delivered a speech in which he praised Dr. Samah Eid’s contributions to the field of veterinary science at the international level, and her pioneering role in strengthening the veterinary control system and health and food security through her leadership of the Animal Health Research Institute.

It is worth noting that the meeting sessions addressed the growing challenges facing livestock systems, including climate change, land and rangeland degradation, rapid population growth, urbanization, and increasing pressure on natural resources.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of multilateral partnerships in addressing the challenges facing the livestock sector, and the need to adopt integrated approaches that combine environmental sustainability, improved productivity, enhanced social inclusion, and support for public health, with the aim of creating more resilient livestock systems that contribute to achieving food security and sustainable development.
