Shoot the terrorists immediately... Nigerian Defense Minister issues decisive orders to the forces

The Nigerian Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Christopher MusaretiredStrict directives to the security forces, during which he called for immediate dealing with terrorists and armed robbers, emphasizing that security elements should not wait for additional orders when facing armed threats.
The minister's statements came during the inauguration ceremony of 62 operational vehicles and a package of new security equipment, with a total value of 27.127 billion naira, provided by the Sokoto State Government to support security operations and combat terrorism and organized crime.
Shooting terrorists without orders
Musa affirmed that any security element hesitant to confront terrorists or brigands under the pretext of awaiting instructions will be held responsible, stating: “Once you are deployed in your positions, do not wait for any orders to open fire on terrorists or brigands. Whoever refuses to perform his duty under the pretext of awaiting instructions will be treated as an accomplice to the criminals.”
The Minister of Defense explained that the new equipment will contribute to enhancing the forces' rapid movement capabilities, improving intelligence gathering efficiency, and providing better protection for personnel during military operations against armed groups and kidnapping gangs.
He also praised the role of the Sokoto State government in supporting security agencies, considering that investment in strengthening military and security capabilities reflects a strategic vision to confront the security challenges facing the state.
At the same time, Moussa called on members of the security forces to maintain the highest degree of professionalism and to make good use of new equipment, warning against negligence or misuse.
He added: “Your primary mission is to protect law-abiding citizens, not to harass or extort them, and to work side-by-side with them to eliminate terrorists and brigands.”
For his part, Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, affirmed that his government continues to inject significant investments into the security sector, explaining that the new equipment package includes bullet-resistant vehicles, Buffalo armored personnel carriers, 320 motorcycles, 3,200 security devices, 2,000 helmets and bulletproof vests, 200 night vision goggles, in addition to thermal imaging devices and advanced tactical equipment.
The governor pointed out that his administration has spent over 36 billion naira since taking office on security projects, which included the establishment of military barracks and police headquarters, support for the Nigerian Air Force base, and the establishment of the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps.
He also revealed that a bill has been referred to the State House of Representatives to tighten penalties for collaborators with bandits, stressing that the government also intends to establish an advanced command and control center with the aim of enhancing surveillance, developing the intelligence gathering system, and improving coordination between various security agencies.
Ahmed Aliyu concluded by calling on citizens to continue cooperating with the security agencies by reporting any reliable information regarding the movements of armed groups, emphasizing that achieving security requires an effective partnership between the government, the security forces, and the community.
