Immigration approvals for Egyptians declined by 9.9% in 2025

The agency explained in its annual bulletin issued on Tuesday that the total number of Egyptians who obtained approval for immigration or acquired the status of immigrants reached 164 immigrants during the year 2025, compared to 182 immigrants in the year 2024.
The report indicated that the total number included 50 people who received approval for immigration, and 114 people who acquired immigrant status. The number of original immigrants was 140 immigrants, representing 85.4%, compared to 24 accompanying persons, representing 14.6%.
Males represent 82% of the migrants
The data showed that males accounted for the largest share of the total number of immigrants, with 135 immigrants representing 82.3%, compared to 29 females representing 17.7%.
The United States is the top destination for immigrants.
The United States of America came first among the countries receiving Egyptian immigrants during 2025, after it received 66 immigrants, representing 40.2% of the total, followed by Italy with 46 immigrants, representing 28%, and then Canada with 15 immigrants, representing 9.1%.
According to the bulletin, the 30-35 age group topped the list of immigrants, with 29 immigrants, representing 17.7% of the total immigrants during the year.
University graduates are in the lead
The agency noted that those with university qualifications came in first place among immigrants of school age (10 years and above), with a total of 69 immigrants, representing 43.4%.
The category of specialists and scientific professionals also accounted for the largest percentage among migrants who were working inside Egypt before their migration, with a total of 50 migrants, representing 41.7%.
Increase in the number of people acquiring foreign nationalities
In contrast, the number of Egyptians who acquired foreign nationalities recorded an increase during 2025, reaching 4,335 citizens, compared to 4,220 citizens in 2024, an increase of 3.2%.
The agency explained that 3,576 Egyptians obtained permission to naturalize while retaining Egyptian nationality, representing 82.1% of the total, while 779 citizens obtained permission to naturalize while renouncing Egyptian nationality, representing 17.9%.
In another context, four African countries accounted for approximately 62.5% of Egypt’s exports to the continent, which totaled approximately $7.6 billion in 2025, compared to $7.8 billion in 2024.
