This school health campaign aims to detect vision disorders in children early in order to improve their learning conditions.

By offering free eye medical consultations, the BOA Foundation intends to contribute to the academic success of pupils who face visual difficulties that are often overlooked.

According to BOA coordinator Paule Christelle Wedraogo, several cases requiring specialized care were identified during the examinations.

She said: “To date, we have recorded the examination of 3,825 students with 525 prescriptions for eyeglasses. Some children suffer from illnesses that require in-depth examinations or surgical interventions. Referral letters have been prepared for their care in university hospitals starting next Monday.”.

She also reassured everyone that the foundation would support the children throughout their medical journey. Regarding the students who need corrective lenses, applications have already been submitted with the support of "Lapere," the project's partner. The glasses are expected to arrive by the end of May.

The initial goal was to screen 4,000 students, and the campaign is on track to meet that target. Hours before the end of the operation, officials praised the strong mobilization of students, teachers, and parents around this eye health initiative.
