Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received and the Egyptians Abroad, he received a phone call today, Monday, May 4, from his Tanzanian counterpart, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, during which they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt And Tanzania, in addition to exchanging views on a number of regional and African issues.
Praise for the momentum of relations and joint projects
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry explained in its statement issued today that Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty praised the growing momentum in relations between the two countries, stressing Cairo’s keenness to expand cooperation in various fields, especially economic, investment, trade, industrial and development fields.

Both sides highlighted the strategic importance of the Julius Nyerere Dam project, being implemented by Egyptian companies in Tanzania, as a successful model of bilateral integration and cooperation, and an impetus for further partnerships in the future. The Tanzanian minister, for his part, praised the efficiency and expertise of Egyptian companies in executing large-scale projects.
Joint coordination on continental issues
The call touched on developments in the African continent, particularly in the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes regions, where the two ministers stressed the importance of supporting national state institutions and respecting the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
They also affirmed their rejection of any measures that would undermine stability or harm state institutions, while stressing the need to adopt comprehensive approaches to address the security and development challenges facing the continent.
Both sides agreed to strengthen joint coordination, both bilaterally and multilaterally, in order to support stability and achieve development in Africa.
Emphasis on cooperation in the water security file
Regarding the water security file, Minister Abdel-Aty stressed the importance of cooperation and integration in managing the Nile River’s resources, in order to achieve the common interests of the basin countries.
He stressed the need to adhere to the spirit of consensus and brotherhood to restore inclusiveness within the Nile Basin Initiative, while rejecting any unilateral actions that may affect the rights of countries, while welcoming the positive developments in the ongoing consultations to reactivate the initiative in accordance with the rules of international law.
