Chad grants 60 million CFA francs to the sports sector in recognition of its achievements

During the inauguration ceremony of the rehabilitated Idriss Mahamat Ouya Stadium on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in the capital N'Djamena, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Nair Abakar, announced a financial grant of 60 million CFA francs provided by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno.
This grant was distributed equally, with 30 million African francs allocated to the Sao national under-18 basketball team.
Meanwhile, the Chadian Taekwondo Federation was granted 30 million CFA francs, as announced by Nair Abakar, Minister of Youth and Sports.
This initiative comes in recognition of the outstanding sporting achievements and results attained by both parties in the recent period.
Chad is proceeding with a clear vision in the sports sector, as the country’s highest authorities are working to support national sports and encourage young talent.
Chad’s national vision aims to continue sporting excellence and raise the flag of the Republic in regional and international forums held in various types of championships and sports.
Opening of the Idriss Mahamat Ouya Stadium in Chad
The capital, N'Djamena, witnessed the opening of the Idriss Mahamat Ouya Stadium after the completion of restoration and rehabilitation work.
The stadium was reopened after renovation work in the presence of the Prime Minister, several members of the government, and guests.
This took place in the presence of the Prime Minister, a number of ministers and government officials, along with national figures, guests and representatives of various sports clubs and federations.
The opening of the stadium comes as part of the authorities’ efforts to develop sports infrastructure and enhance the status of national sports, allowing athletes and fans to benefit from a modern facility that meets the required standards for hosting various sports competitions and events.
