The Minister of Sports meets with the African Union Commissioner for Health to follow up on Egypt's preparations to host the 2027 Games.

Gawhar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, received the Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development of the African Union Commission, Ama Tom-Amoah, and her accompanying delegation, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Capital, as part of following up on the ongoing preparations for Egypt to host the 14th African Games in 2027.

The meeting came in light of reviewing the latest developments related to preparations for the continental event, in addition to the African Union representatives conducting an inspection tour of a number of sports facilities scheduled to host the tournament's competitions.

Minister of Sports: We are ready to host the Games

At the beginning of the meeting, Gawhar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, welcomed Ms. Ama Tom-Amoah and her accompanying delegation, expressing his happiness with this visit, which reflects the African Union’s keenness to continuously monitor Egypt’s preparations to host the 2027 African Games.

During the meeting, the minister affirmed the readiness of the Egyptian state to host this major continental event, given its advanced sports facilities and infrastructure and accumulated organizational expertise. He noted that the ministry is working in full coordination with the African Union as a key partner to ensure the organization of an exceptional edition befitting the continent's status and its ability to organize the most important continental events with high efficiency and competence.

For her part, Ama Tom Amwah expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality, affirming her complete confidence in Egypt's ability to successfully host the Games, based on its advanced sporting facilities and infrastructure. She also emphasized the importance of continued coordination with the joint working group and the development of a clear roadmap that includes timelines and the necessary implementation steps for the upcoming phases.

During the meeting, the Egyptian side reviewed what had been accomplished within the preparatory phase for the session, explaining that work was nearing completion on a number of key files, including the preparation of the budget, the structure of the organizing committee, and determining the proposed date for the start of the session, while emphasizing the need to provide the African Union with all the remaining details and procedures during the coming period, and the full commitment to coordination and continuous follow-up on various organizational aspects.
