Mali's interim president, Assimi Goïta, said that the authorities have managed to impose control over the situation on the ground in the country.
This came after simultaneous armed attacks targeting military and security sites in a number of cities since April 25.

In a speech broadcast on the country's state television ORTM, he confirmed that the attacks that struck the capital Bamako and the cities of Kati, Konna, Mopti, Gao and Kidal constituted "a very dangerous moment," stressing that they were carried out in a coordinated and planned manner with the aim of creating chaos in the country.
He stressed that the rapid intervention of the armed forces and security forces dealt a strong blow to the militants, thwarting a large part of the plan and inflicting losses on the attackers, thanks to what he described as the composure of the forces on the ground and the continued control of the military command lines.

He said that security and military operations will continue until the armed groups are completely eliminated and security is permanently restored throughout the country, stressing that the current stage requires continued field readiness.
Goita praised the role of the Confederation of Sahel States, which includes Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, considering that it contributes to strengthening security coordination to confront the escalating challenges in the region.
He also noted the importance of cooperation with international partners, with a focus on Russian support in the military and security fields, as part of efforts to strengthen the capabilities of the Malian army.

The Malian president called on citizens not to be drawn into attempts to sow discord or destabilize the country, stressing that the state is committed to imposing security and pursuing armed groups in various regions.
