First president to chair a meeting of the Institute of Engineers

The Institute of Engineers of Zambia honored President Hakainde Hichileman of Zambia for his commitment to renewable energy and reforms in this sector in light of the effects of climate change.

During his speech at the 69th Annual General Meeting held in Livingston, the Institute's President, Wesley Kaluba, praised President Hichilema for his policy reforms that opened up the energy sector to many independent energy producers, reducing reliance on Zesco, particularly after the drought that hit the region in 2023-2024.
