Exploring ways to enhance cooperation in regulating and registering medicines and developing the pharmaceutical system
The meeting discussed opportunities to benefit from advanced Egyptian expertise in the areas of drug regulation and registration, development of the pharmaceutical system, and support for medical supply chains, in order to improve the quality of health services in Gabon.
This meeting comes as part of preparations for the participation of the President of the Gabonese Medicines Authority, representing the Minister of Health, in the Africa Health ExCon conference, scheduled to be held in Cairo from June 16 to 18, which is one of the most prominent health events in the African continent, and brings together a select group of experts and decision-makers in the health and pharmaceutical sector.

Gabonese interest in Egyptian medicine
In a separate context, Ambassador Reham Hussein Ammar, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to GabonWith Ms. Annie Josette Poitier, President of the National Office of Medicines, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation with the Egyptian Drug Authority, and to identify opportunities for exporting Egyptian medicine to Gabon, especially in light of Egypt obtaining the Level 3 Maturity Certificate for medicines from the World Health Organization.

The meeting addressed prospects for developing cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector between the two countries, including supporting the exchange of expertise and strengthening technical and regulatory partnerships, in addition to discussing mechanisms to facilitate the entry of Egyptian pharmaceutical products into the Gabonese market.

Both sides emphasized the importance of benefiting from the development achieved by the Egyptian pharmaceutical industry and the global quality standards it has reached, in order to support pharmaceutical security in Gabon and expand the scope of health cooperation between the two sides.
