Strengthening international cooperation to localize medical technology and innovation

 The conference events witnessedAfrica Health Exhibition A series of meetings between the Ministry of Health and Population and a number of international institutions and companies specializing in medical technology, to discuss mechanisms of cooperation in the fields of health innovation, digital transformation, localization of medical manufacturing, transfer of expertise and capacity building, within the framework of the state’s direction to enhance Egypt’s position as a regional center for healthcare and medical industries.

Strengthening international cooperation to localize medical technology and innovation

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, met with officials from the Mecomed Group, which specializes in medical technology. The meeting addressed opportunities for cooperation in supporting health innovation and applying modern technological solutions within the health system, in addition to exchanging international experiences and developing policies regulating advanced medical technologies.

The discussions included the fields of medical imaging and radiology, digital health, remote diagnosis, health technology assessment, as well as developing the capabilities of medical personnel to raise the readiness of the health sector to absorb modern innovations, and supporting Egypt’s role in transferring expertise to African countries.

The Minister of Health and Population also discussed with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic and representatives of the “Linette” healthcare company, mechanisms for cooperation in the field of localizing the manufacturing of hospital beds in Egypt according to the latest international standards, which supports the state’s strategy to deepen medical manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports, and opens the way for establishing sustainable industrial partnerships in the health sector.

During the meetings, the minister stressed the importance of building effective international partnerships that support the development of the healthcare system, noting that Egypt has the potential to become a regional center for manufacturing and exporting medical products, in addition to its role in supporting health systems in the African continent through the transfer of successful experiences and expertise.

These moves come as part of the activities of the Africa Health Conference and Exhibition, which represents an important platform for showcasing investment and technological opportunities in the health sector, and enhancing cooperation between Egypt and international partners in the fields of medical industries, innovation and healthcare.
