In a new literary release that enriches the cultural landscape of South Sudan, poet and legal scholar Professor Salim Jumaa Yor announced the publication of his first poetry collection, "Is There Hope?" This work serves as a mirror reflecting the complex realities and aspirations of a people yearning for stability and justice.

The pulse of the nation and its suffering

In a special statement to “Zoom Africa News”, Professor Salem Jumaa expressed his happiness with this literary creation, stressing that the poems were not just rhymed words, but rather “the pulse of the nation, the pains of humanity and its aspirations for a better tomorrow.”.

He explained that the Diwan delves into the concerns of the citizen who has been exhausted by the ravages of wars, highlighting the harsh economic challenges and the absence of salaries, which are the conditions that have burdened the people at a time when they were dreaming of a decent life in which security prevails.

A message of unity and coexistence

In his collection, Yor did not neglect the fundamental issues of nation-building; his poems included explicit calls to strengthen the values of belonging, identity, and peaceful coexistence. He stated in this regard: “My message is peace and joint action to build a state that accommodates everyone and preserves human dignity and rights, far removed from narrow conflicts.”.

Between emotion and the loyalty of a "mother"“

In addition to its nationalistic themes, the collection is rich with tender human and emotional expressions; the poet devotes space to love and longing through lyrical poems inspired by genuine life experiences. He also dedicates a chapter to his mother, describing her as his "first school" and an inexhaustible source of giving, in appreciation of her immense sacrifices.
