Russian-Congolese summit to discuss cooperation and international issues

The President of the Republic arrived CongoDenis Sassou Nguesso is in Russia on an official visit, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, as part of the two countries’ efforts to strengthen their bilateral relations and expand areas of joint cooperation.

Historic visit by the President of Congo to Russia

The initial welcoming ceremony took place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, marking the start of a visit with significant political and economic dimensions, amid a growing trend towards strengthening partnerships between African countries and Russia, particularly in the areas of energy, investment and infrastructure.

The visit program, scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, will include a bilateral summit between Presidents Sassou Nguesso and Putin, where talks will focus on ways to develop relations between the two countries, as well as discussing a number of regional and international issues of common interest. Discussions are also expected to concentrate on strengthening economic and trade cooperation, opening new avenues for investment, and supporting partnerships in vital sectors.
