President Abdel Fattah participated SisiOn Wednesday, in a session entitled “Ensuring the safe, rapid and effective deployment of artificial intelligence,” as part of the G7 summit held in the French city of Evian.
Opportunities and risks arising from the uses of artificial intelligence
The official spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the participating leaders and heads of companies affirmed in their interventions that artificial intelligence has become an integral part of various fields of life, and that there are opportunities and risks arising from its uses, which necessitates the need to develop a clear roadmap and a legal and legislative system for digital transformation and artificial intelligence in each country, as well as the importance of strengthening coordination and cooperation between countries in this field.
In the same context, the need to take several steps in the field of artificial intelligence governance and capacity building was emphasized, with the aim of keeping pace with the accelerating rate at which this field is developing.
Ambassador Mohamed El Shenawy, the official spokesperson, pointed out that the participants stressed the importance of not overlooking the risks that artificial intelligence poses on the security, social, ethical and informational levels, especially in light of the absence of international governance of these technologies, which may limit the sovereignty of states and the benefits of the digital revolution, and increase the existing differences not only between different social classes, but also between developed and developing countries.
The need for concerted international efforts and the consolidation of the principle of joint cooperation, including public-private partnerships, to address and mitigate these risks and maximize the benefits of the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence was reaffirmed.
The official spokesperson added that the President stressed the importance of strengthening the governance of artificial intelligence, emphasizing that the development of this technology is a natural and ongoing process, and that humanity is still in its infancy in this field, stressing the need to deal with and avoid the risks of artificial intelligence.
In another context, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met today with President Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, on the sidelines of his participation in the G7 summit.
The official spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting addressed the entirety of bilateral relations between Egypt and Brazil, with the President expressing great pride in the historical relations between the two countries.
