President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received President Michael Randrianireina, President of the Republic of Madagascar, today in the city of El Alamein.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the reception ceremony included the honor guard performing the salute, the playing of the national anthems of the two countries, and the taking of a commemorative photo, followed by an expanded session of talks in the presence of the delegations of the two countries, followed by the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding, and then a luncheon hosted by the President in honor of the President of Madagascar and his accompanying delegation.
Ambassador Mohamed El Shenawy, the official spokesperson, indicated that the talks addressed the two sides’ emphasis on the need to continue strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, especially economic, trade and investment fields, as well as the need to advance cooperation in a number of promising areas, including agriculture, health, transport and infrastructure, renewable energy, water resources, as well as in the field of building the capacities of personnel in Madagascar.
The official spokesperson stated that the President of Madagascar expressed his great pride in visiting Egypt, meeting the President, and the warm hospitality and reception, stressing that his visit is historic as it is the first official visit by a Malagasy President to Egypt.
He also pointed out the need to work on improving bilateral relations in various fields, expressing his appreciation for Egypt’s support for his country following the recent cyclones, and also praising the training programs provided by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development to various cadres in Madagascar.
The official spokesperson explained that the meeting also included discussions on cooperation between the two countries in the African context, including within the framework of the African Union.
