The 2026 Mask Festival in Benin concluded on Sunday, July 26, 2026, with the grand procession of sacred and secular masks on Lagoonner Avenue in the capital, Porto-Novo.

The event, which was the highlight of the second and final day of the festival, was attended by thousands of visitors, tourists and those interested in heritage, and featured performances that celebrated the rich traditions and ancient cultural heritage of Benin.

Festival closing celebrations

The presence of Benin’s President Romuald Ouadagne, accompanied by several members of the government, prominent figures, and official guests, gave a special character to the closing celebrations of the festival, which is one of the most prominent cultural events in the country and aims to highlight traditional heritage and promote national cultural identity.
