A government delegation headed by the Minister of Communications, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Bingdouinde Gilbert Ouédraogo, visited the Hippopotamus Pond in Bala, Burkina Faso, located in the municipality of Satere, about thirty kilometers from Bobo-Dioulasso, as part of the fourth session of the domestic tourism season.

On this occasion, the head of the delegation from the municipality of Satere, Emmanuel Ouédraogo, expressed his gratitude to the government for choosing his municipality. He affirmed that this visit is clear evidence of the importance Burkina Faso attaches to promoting domestic tourism and showcasing its natural and cultural heritage.

He pointed out that the municipality of Sateri is rich in important tourist sites, including the Hippopotamus Pool in Bala, the Sateri Community Forest, and the classified Maru Forest. The Hippopotamus Pool is a true ecological gem, located in the heart of a classified forest and a biosphere reserve recognized by UNESCO, making it an exceptional destination. In the current context, he stressed that developing tourism is a strategic choice to stimulate the local economy and enhance the status of the national heritage.

On behalf of the government, the Governor of Guérico Region, Mariama Konaté/Gnano, encouraged the citizens of Burkina Faso to embrace domestic tourism and discover the wonders of this land of noble people. She reaffirmed the government's vision of making domestic tourism a genuine attraction, capable of contributing to economic development, social cohesion, and the sustainable promotion of Burkina Faso's cultural and tourist heritage.
