Abuse risks surround workers in Palestine

Dr. Hatem Al-Ruby, representative Health Management The humanitarian assistance from the League of Arab States, the work of the 50th session of the General Assembly of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization, held in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, addressed the discussion of humanitarian situations in Arab countries and listening to reports from national societies in Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Somalia, Djibouti, and Syria. These reports demonstrated the magnitude of the challenges facing humanitarian work in the Arab region.
Al-Robi added to “Zoom Africa News”: The session's work addressed what Palestine is subjected to from the brutal Israeli aggression's disregard for international humanitarian law, and the risks humanitarian workers face of attack in conflict zones.
Al-Rubaie clarified that during his speech, which represented the League of Arab States at the opening of the session, he affirmed the Arab League's firm commitment to continuously support the most vulnerable groups through its specialized Arab ministerial councils in Arab countries suffering from crises, disasters, or conflicts. He also called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities to put an end to wars and conflicts in the Arab region, and to take urgent action to protect unarmed civilians and provide relief and humanitarian assistance without restrictions or obstacles. He stressed the importance of respecting international humanitarian law and protecting humanitarian workers from any attacks while performing their duties.
The meeting of the 50th session of the General Assembly of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization comes as part of Arab efforts to enhance diplomatic endeavors, invest in building the capacities of volunteers and youth, strengthen early warning systems and civilian protection, and discuss the governance of artificial intelligence in humanitarian work.
The meeting also included a dialogue session for humanitarian leaders titled “Exploring the New Phase: Strategic Governance and the Future of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement,” and discussed amending the statutes of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to ensure equitable regional representation in leadership.
He continued: The second day witnessed a conference for the Mauritanian Red Crescent Society to support and strengthen its capabilities in continuing to provide humanitarian support in accordance with the highest international standards that preserve and protect human rights and provide for their health and humanitarian needs.
The Arab League praised the role of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization and its societies as the first line of humanitarian defense in the Arab region.
This came during the 50th General Assembly meeting of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, from July 7-8, 2026. Dr. Hatem El-Robey represented the Health and Humanitarian Aid Department of the League of Arab States and delivered the League of Arab States' speech at the opening of the session.
