Foreign Minister meets with officials from Burundi and Djibouti at the African Union summit

Minister Abdel-Aati met with Prosper Bazoumbanza, Vice President of Burundi and current President of the African Union, and Omar Abdi Said, Minister of Interior, Acting Minister of Defense and Head of the Djibouti delegation to the summit.
During the meeting, the distinguished relations between Egypt and both Burundi and Djibouti were discussed, as well as ways to develop relations in the economic, trade and investment fields.
This came on the sidelines of the summit hosted by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in the Ugandan capital Kampala on July 31, in which Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, participated on behalf of the President of the Republic and on his behalf.
The meetings also addressed the situation in the Horn of Africa region, particularly Somalia, and the importance of achieving security and stability in the region and ensuring Somalia’s unity and territorial integrity.
The meetings also included consultations on the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), the importance of its continuation, and finding sustainable funding sources for the mission to maintain stability in Somalia.
