The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources confirmed that, as part of the immediate follow-up to any emergency events, a fire broke out on the gasification vessel and the storage vessel located in Damietta Port, and the situation was dealt with immediately in accordance with the approved emergency and rapid response plans, through the competent authorities and the fire and security teams on site.
Upon receiving the report, Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, went to the site of the accident to follow up on the situation on the ground, to ensure the progress of control and security operations, and to make sure that all safety procedures were implemented and that there was full coordination between the various concerned parties until the situation was dealt with safely.
The ministry confirms that the incident did not result in any injuries or loss of life, and that the emergency teams are in contact with the competent technical authorities to complete the work and take the necessary measures in accordance with the approved standards.
The necessary measures are being taken to determine the repercussions of the situation.
