The President of Chad heads to Abu Dhabi... an official visit that opens new horizons for partnership with the UAE

A diplomatic initiative aimed at strengthening bilateral relations

On Sunday morning, June 28, 2026, the President of the Republic of Chad, Field Marshal Mohamed Idriss Deby Itno, left the capital N’Djamena for the UAE capital Abu Dhabi on an official visit, which comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Chad and the United Arab Emirates, and in response to an official invitation from the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The visit is of particular importance in light of the growing cooperation between the two countries in recent years.

High-level talks are expected to take place, addressing ways to expand the partnership in the areas of investment, development, energy, and infrastructure, in addition to discussing a number of regional and international issues of common interest.

Official farewell ceremony for the President at N'Djamena Airport

Hassan Jammous International Airport witnessed an official farewell ceremony for the President of the Republic, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Ambassador Lamai Halina, along with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and a number of members of the government and senior state officials.

The farewell ceremony was also attended by the Minister of State, Secretary-General of the Presidency, the Chief of the Special Staff, the Deputy Director of the Civil Office, the Deputy Private Secretary, the National Security Advisor, and the Mayor of N'Djamena, in a scene that reflects the importance of the visit on both the political and diplomatic levels.

Expanding economic and strategic partnership

The visit comes at a time when Chadian-Emirati relations are witnessing remarkable development, especially in the areas of investment and economic development, as Chad seeks to attract more foreign investments to support its development plans, while the UAE continues to expand its economic presence in the African continent through strategic partnerships and development projects.

The visit is expected to contribute to the signing of new agreements that enhance bilateral cooperation and open up broader horizons for the public and private sectors in both countries, in order to achieve common interests and promote stability and development in the region.

Political messages that go beyond bilateral cooperation

The importance of President Mohamed Idriss Deby Itno’s visit is not limited to its economic dimension alone, but also carries political messages reflecting Chad’s keenness to diversify its international partnerships and strengthen its diplomatic presence, at a time when the Sahel region and the African continent are witnessing rapid transformations that require greater coordination between regional and international partners, in order to support efforts for security, stability and sustainable development.
