Burkina Faso hosts the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the West African Economic and Monetary Union

The Burkinabe capital, Ouagadougou, will host the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) on Friday, July 3, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Economy and Finance of Burkina Faso, Dr. Abubakar Nacanabo.

The meeting brings together ministers from several member states, including Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, and Benin.

Multilateral Monitoring Report

The agenda includes the Multilateral Monitoring Report for June 2026 and the Economic Policy Guidelines for Member States for 2027.

Participants will also discuss the public debt framework and its management, as well as the establishment of a network for public debt managers.

Other agenda items include the regulation and control of veterinary medicines, the establishment of a specialized regional committee, and the adoption of the social protection strategy of the West African Economic and Monetary Union.

2026 budget

The Board of Directors of the West African Economic and Monetary Union's Capital Markets Authority will discuss the 2026 budget and a number of appointments.

This course also coincides with the institution's 30th anniversary, celebrating three decades of work on promoting transparency and developing the regional financial market.
