The Egyptian national team will face its Argentine counterpart in a highly anticipated match at 7 PM on Tuesday in the city of Atlanta, as part of the Round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup. Egypt aims to continue its journey in the tournament and achieve a new historic milestone.
And with the national team's achievement, if they win the next match, they will become the fifth African team to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in its history, after Cameroon in the 1990 edition, Senegal in 2002, Ghana in 2010, and Morocco in the 2022 and 2026 editions.
This record, which the Egyptian public hopes to achieve, will give an additional morale boost to the ”Pharaohs” before the anticipated confrontation, amid the state of focus that controls the national team's camp, and the players' desire to continue strong performances against one of the strongest teams nominated to compete for the title.
The match holds special significance as it pits the Egyptian national team's ambition to write a new chapter in African football history against the experience of the Argentinian national team, the reigning champions from the previous edition held in Qatar in 2022, in a clash expected to be one of the highlights of the 2026 World Cup Round of 16.
