Frozen Egyptian strawberries are soaring globally, with strong expansion in Africa.

Egypt's strawberry revenues reached $697 million

Egyptian strawberries continued to confirm their position as one of the most prominent agricultural products in global markets, after topping the list of frozen strawberry exports worldwide, benefiting from the high quality of their production and their ability to meet international requirements, which strengthened their spread in dozens of countries.

Recent data revealed that exports of frozen strawberries alone generated revenues of approximately $697 million, a strong contribution that pushed the total Egyptian agricultural exports to exceed $11.5 billion, an unprecedented figure that reflects the boom witnessed by the agricultural sector in Egypt in recent years.

The Prime Minister's office denies rumors of rejecting Egyptian strawberry shipments.

In a related context, the Information and Decision Support Center denied the rumors circulating about the rejection of some shipments of Egyptian strawberries abroad, stressing that no official notification had been received from any country indicating that there were problems related to the quality of the Egyptian product.

The center explained that agricultural crops, especially strawberries, are subject to a strict monitoring system that includes checking pesticide residues and reviewing the quality of production at various stages, in order to ensure the safety of exports and maintain the distinguished international reputation of Egyptian strawberries, which have become known as ”red gold” in global markets.

Growth in Egypt's strawberry exports

Regarding fresh strawberries, the figures showed remarkable growth in the volume of exports, rising from 29.83 tons in April 2025 to 37.98 tons in April 2026, a clear indication of increasing global demand and the confidence of foreign markets in the Egyptian product.

African market

Egypt is one of the leading countries in exporting strawberries, and their spread is not limited to Europe and Asia only, but extends strongly to African markets, which represent an important growth opportunity for Egyptian agricultural exports.

The African market represents one of the most important future trends for the growth of Egyptian strawberry exports, as Egypt combines quality, competitive price and geographical proximity, which enhances its opportunities to expand its influence within the continent further in the coming years.

Frozen strawberries are the most widespread product in Africa because they are easy to store and transport.

Key information about exporting Egyptian strawberries to Africa:

1. Key markets within the continent: Egyptian strawberry exports (fresh and frozen) are directed to a number of African countries, most notably: Kenya, South Africa, Sudan, Morocco, and Nigeria, in addition to emerging markets in West and Central Africa.

2. The advantage of geographical proximity

Egypt has a strong competitive advantage in the African market thanks to its geographical proximity, which reduces transportation costs and preserves the quality of fresh strawberries during shipping compared to competitors from outside the continent.

3. Growing demand: African markets are witnessing a growing demand for strawberries, especially frozen ones, for use in food industries such as juices and sweets, which enhances the opportunities for Egyptian expansion within the continent.

4. Supportive trade agreements: Egyptian exports benefit from agreements such as COMESA and the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, which contribute to reducing customs duties and facilitating the movement of goods between countries.

5. Competitive quality: Egyptian strawberries maintain high quality standards, with the application of precise control and inspection systems, which gives them greater confidence among African importers and increases their competitiveness.
