The Sudanese Embassy in Cairo is exploring ways to improve social welfare for its citizens.

Ambassador Lieutenant General Engineer Emad El-Din Mustafa Adawi held an important meeting with Secretary Ali Abdel Qader, head of the “Return to the Homeland” Committee, to discuss ways to address the challenges facing Sudanese community Under the current exceptional circumstances, the meeting came in response to an invitation from the ambassador to discuss some important issues.

Ambassador Adawi began the meeting by referring to the recent visit of the Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, Professor Mutasim Ahmed Saleh, to the Arab Republic of Egypt, which constituted a “qualitative leap” and a strong boost to social welfare files. The Minister directed the Zakat Bureau to adopt a package of strategic files, foremost among them the launch of the “Return to Homeland Project” for groups wishing to return voluntarily to the homeland, in addition to strengthening interventions in the areas of health care, addressing the conditions of debtors, and supporting emergency social issues.

In this regard, Ambassador Adawi praised the strategic role played by the Zakat Bureau, stressing that its interventions have had a tangible impact in alleviating the suffering of citizens, expressing his deep appreciation for the efforts of the Secretary-General of the Bureau, its leaders, and all employees for their dedication to serving the most vulnerable segments.

For his part, Mr. Amin Ali Abdel Qader, Chairman of the Committee, reviewed a detailed report on the progress of the “Return to the Homeland Project”, revealing the numbers of returnees, the trips that were carried out, and the status of the implementation of the remaining plans for the next phases.

The discussion during the meeting also focused on strengthening coordination between the committee and the embassy to provide health and social care for Sudanese people in Egypt, and developing effective mechanisms to guarantee the rights of “debtors” who meet the conditions of legal debt, in addition to ways to improve coordination mechanisms with the medical advisory to ensure a rapid response of the treatment system for Sudanese patients coming from within.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Adawi affirmed that the embassy's doors remain open to the Zakat Bureau to provide all that would alleviate the suffering of citizens, reiterating the commitment to supporting all initiatives that reflect the state's keenness to preserve the dignity of Sudanese people in the diaspora.
