Niger's president visits Türkiye

The President of Niger, General Abdourahmane Tiéani, left Niamey on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, heading to Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkey, where he will pay a working and friendly visit.

The President of Niger is visiting Türkiye on a working visit.

He is accompanied by Lieutenant General Salifou Mody, Minister of State, Minister of National Defence; Colonel Garba Hakimi, Minister of Health and Public Hygiene; Colonel Salissou Mahamane Salissou, Minister of Equipment and Infrastructure; Commissioner Colonel Ousmane Abarchi, Minister of Mines; Bakary Yaw Sangaré, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad; Dr. Soumana Boubacar, Minister, Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic, Head of State, Government Spokesperson; Mr. Maman Lawali Abdou Raafa, Minister of Economy and Finance; Colonel Mahamane El Hadj Ousmane, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock; Amadou Hawa, Minister of Energy; Abdoulaye Seydou, Minister of Trade and Industry; and Salou Adama Gazibou, Ambassador of Niger to the Republic of Turkey.

Trade exchange between the two countries

It is noted that the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries has increased from about $72 million in 2019 to levels that have exceeded the $200 million mark.

However, the trade balance is heavily in favor of Türkiye, which is a major supplier to the Nigerian market.

Turkish exports to Niger focus on foodstuffs, mineral products, iron and steel, textiles, and furniture, as well as electronic products and machinery.

Nigerien exports to Turkey include agricultural goods and raw materials.
