The President of the Transitional Government, Head of State and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Mali, General Assimi Goïta, chaired a session of the Supreme Council of National Defense on Wednesday, which was dedicated to assessing the security situation throughout the country, with particular attention to the coordinated attacks that took place on April 25, 2026.

The meeting was held in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Security and Civil Protection, members of the government, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

Condolences to the victims

Following the session, the Minister of Security and Civil Protection, Major General Daoud Ali Mohammedin, made a press statement, expressing the nation’s deepest condolences to the victims of the events of April 25.

He paid tribute to the memory of the Minister of State and Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Lieutenant General Sadio Camara, who was martyred while serving the nation.

He praised his dedication and great sacrifice in defending territorial integrity and national sovereignty.

The Minister of Security and Civil Protection pointed out that the simultaneous attacks that targeted several locations across the country were meticulously planned by armed terrorist groups, with clearly defined strategic objectives. However, thanks to the response, determination, and professional competence of the armed forces and security forces, the attackers suffered heavy human and material losses before being forced to retreat.

The Supreme National Defense Council conducted a comprehensive analysis of the security situation. On this occasion, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces issued sixteen strategic directives aimed at strengthening the national defense and security system.

Major General Daoud Ali Mohammedin reassured the people that the situation remained under control throughout the country.

He also praised the national mobilization of the people and their effective contribution through operational intelligence.

In conclusion, the minister called on citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and united, and urged the public to rely exclusively on official communication channels in the face of disinformation campaigns circulating on social media.
