Elements of the Rivers State Police Command in Nigeria arrested Arrest Thirteen suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack on a journalist.

The suspects are believed to be among criminals who harass people and steal their property in the Garrison area of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area in the state.

The suspects attacked Classic FM radio reporter Alwell Eni, who was in the area investigating criminal activities.

Following the incident, Police Commissioner Oluginja Adebojo initiated an investigation into the reported assault and other criminal activities in the area.

Command public relations officer Blessing Agabi stated that, following an investigation, 13 suspects were arrested.

“The facts available indicate that journalist Alwell Eni, while conducting a solo investigative report in an area classified as a criminal hotspot, known for its criminal activity and subject to frequent police raids, was physically assaulted by suspects for filming them,” Agabi said in a statement issued yesterday in Port Harcourt.

Upon receiving the report, the chief of the Olo-Obasanjo police department rushed to send his officers to the scene to rescue the journalist.

In line with the Commissioner of Police's directives, command personnel conducted coordinated operations in the Olo-Obasanjo area and surrounding regions. Thirteen suspects have been arrested so far.

The suspects are believed to be involved in various criminal activities, including phone theft and harassment of law-abiding citizens. Investigations are ongoing, and intensive efforts are underway to ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice.
