On Saturday, June 20, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, received Mr. Mohi El-Din Salem, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the sisterly Republic of Sudan, as part of the ongoing consultation and coordination between the two sisterly countries.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the meeting reflected the depth of the fraternal and historical relations that bind Egypt and Sudan, as the two ministers affirmed their shared commitment to continuing to strengthen bilateral relations and develop aspects of cooperation in various fields, in order to achieve the common interests of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, and to enhance the bonds of connection and coordination between them.
The official spokesperson added that Minister Abdel-Aty affirmed during the meeting Egypt’s firm position supporting the unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national institutions of Sudan, and rejecting the establishment of any parallel entities, stressing the importance of reaching a humanitarian truce that paves the way for a sustainable ceasefire and the resumption of the political process, while ensuring humanitarian access to the affected areas, respecting the principle of Sudanese ownership of the political solution, and emphasizing the importance of the efforts of the Quartet to support stability and end the conflict.
The official spokesman explained that the Sudanese Foreign Minister, for his part, expressed his country’s appreciation for the support that Egypt provides to Sudan at various levels, praising the Egyptian positions that support the unity and stability of Sudan. He also reviewed the efforts made by the Sudanese government to deal with the current challenges, stressing the keenness to continue coordination and consultation with Egypt during the next stage in a way that serves the interests of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.
