تسلّم نبيل فهمي، اليوم الأربعاء الموافق الأول من يوليو، مهامه أمينًا عامًا لجامعة الدول العربية، وذلك خلال مراسم رسمية أُقيمت بمقر الأمانة العامة بالقاهرة، تسلّم خلالها مهام منصبه من السيد أحمد أبو الغيط، الذي اختتم بذلك فترة ولايته، وذلك بحضور الأمناء العامين المساعدين، وعدد من مسؤولي الأمانة العامة والعاملين بها.
وعقب مراسم التسلّم والتسليم، تلقى الأمين العام إحاطات من مسؤولي الأمانة العامة حول بعض المستجدات في الملفات السياسية.
بحث الأولويات خلال المرحلة المقبلة
كما عقد الأمين العام اجتماعاً مع الأمناء العامين المساعدين، لبحث الأولويات خلال المرحلة المقبلة، ومنهجية وسير العمل في مختلف القطاعات.
كما وقّع الأمين العام أولى مراسلاته الرسمية الموجهة إلى قادة الدول العربية، لتوجّيه الشكر والتقدير على الثقة الغالية التي أولوه إياها.
كما وقع خطابات إلى وزراء الخارجية، متضمنةً تقييم للأوضاع العربية، ومقترحات لتمكين العالم العربي والجامعة العربية من التصدي للتحديات القائمة، وتطويرها وإصلاحها، فضلاً عن تعزيز جهود البناء الإقتصادي والإجتماعي.
السسيسي يستقبل نبيل فهمي
كان الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي، قد استقبل في وقت سابق، نبيل فهمي، المرشح لمنصب الأمين العام لـ League of Arab States.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the President affirmed Egypt’s full support for the nomination of Nabil Fahmy for this position, stressing the unprecedented challenges facing the region at the present stage, which necessitate strengthening the system of joint Arab action and activating the role of the League of Arab States as the main umbrella and comprehensive framework for defending the interests of Arab states and peoples.
Ambassador Mohamed El Shenawy, the official spokesperson, added that Nabil Fahmy expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude for the President’s support, stressing his aspiration to work on developing the performance of the League of Arab States and formulating an advanced and effective strategic vision that is commensurate with the magnitude of the challenges facing Arab national security.
The university's role in the economic and social fields
He also stressed his conviction of the importance of strengthening the university’s role in the economic and social fields, in order to contribute to achieving its desired role.
The official spokesman indicated that the President, during the meeting, emphasized the Egyptian vision keen on playing constructive roles that promote peaceful solutions to the region’s crises, noting the increasing hotspots of conflict and the escalation of violations of international law, which imposes serious consequences on Arab national security in its comprehensive sense, and increases the responsibilities of the League of Arab States, especially with regard to the need to develop its tools to deal with regional transformations and formulate more effective and comprehensive collective Arab positions.
Sisi meets with the Secretary-General of the Arab League
In a related context, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received today Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the meeting came on the occasion of the approaching end of Ahmed Aboul Gheit’s term as Secretary-General of the League, where the President expressed his great appreciation for the role he played during his tenure, and the tireless efforts he made to strengthen the system of joint Arab action and develop the mechanisms of the General Secretariat.
He affirmed Egypt’s keenness to continue its firm support for the role of the League as the primary umbrella for defending the interests of Arab countries and enhancing cooperation among them, in order to achieve the aspirations of the Arab peoples towards prosperity and well-being.
Ambassador Mohamed El Shenawy, the official spokesperson, added that Ahmed Aboul Gheit, for his part, expressed his deep gratitude to the President for his continued support of the League of Arab States and his constant concern for preserving Arab national security and protecting Arab interests.
