French President Emmanuel Macron received African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf in Paris on Monday.
In a tweet on the “X” platform, Macron stressed the importance of the partnership between France and the African Union in light of increasing global challenges.
Promoting development and consolidating peace
He stressed that the African Union is a key partner for France, the European Union and the international community in promoting development, consolidating peace and security and protecting global public resources in the African continent.
He also affirmed his country’s determination to remain a reliable and strong partner of the African Union on all these issues, stressing the need to strengthen joint cooperation in the coming period.
The French president said that the “Africa Forward” conference, scheduled to be held in Nairobi on May 11 and 12, would represent a new step towards strengthening cooperation between the two continents and pushing the partnership to broader horizons.
