تواجه جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية تحدياً جديداً في معركتها لاحتواء تفشي فيروس إيبولا، بعدما انضم مزيد من العاملين في القطاع الصحي بمحافظة إيتوري إلى موجة الإضرابات احتجاجاً على تأخر صرف الرواتب والمستحقات المالية، وهو ما يهدد بإرباك جهود الاستجابة الصحية في واحدة من أكثر المناطق تضرراً بالوباء.
Bunya General Hospital, one of the main centers for receiving the injured, witnessed a partial suspension of services after a number of workers closed the hospital entrances, demanding that the government fulfill its financial obligations, stressing that they have continued to work since the beginning of the crisis in extremely difficult conditions without receiving their dues.
The strike is compounding the challenges facing response teams.
This move comes days after similar strikes at other treatment centers in the province, involving doctors, nurses, laboratory workers, ambulance drivers, and burial teams, reflecting growing discontent among frontline workers in the fight against the pandemic.
Health officials warn that continued strikes could slow down the detection of new infections and contact tracing, as well as affect the provision of medical care to the infected, at a time when the epidemic is spreading rapidly in the east of the country.
Rapid outbreak amid complex security conditions
Ituri province is a major center of the Ebola outbreak, where health authorities, with support from the World Health Organization and international partners, are continuing their efforts to curb the spread of the infection.
However, the response faces accumulating challenges, including armed conflicts, difficulty accessing some areas, ongoing displacement, as well as a lack of funding to sustain control operations.
وتشير أحدث البيانات إلى أن عدد الإصابات المؤكدة تجاوز ألفي حالة، فيما ارتفعت الوفيات إلى مئات الضحايا، مع استمرار تسجيل إصابات جديدة بشكل يومي، الأمر الذي يزيد الضغوط على النظام الصحي والعاملين فيه.
مطالب بالإسراع في صرف المستحقات
ويؤكد العاملون المضربون أن مطالبهم لا تقتصر على صرف الرواتب المتأخرة، بل تشمل أيضًا تحسين ظروف العمل وتوفير الحوافز المناسبة بالنظر إلى المخاطر الكبيرة التي يتعرضون لها أثناء التعامل مع المصابين بفيروس شديد العدوى.
من جانبها، أقرت وزارة الصحة بوجود تأخير في صرف بعض المستحقات، مشيرة إلى أن مراجعة كشوف المستفيدين وإجراءات التدقيق المالي ساهمت في إبطاء عمليات الدفع، مع التأكيد على العمل لمعالجة الأزمة في أسرع وقت ممكن.
مخاوف من تأثير الأزمة على احتواء الوباء
ويرى خبراء الصحة العامة أن استمرار الإضرابات قد ينعكس سلبًا على جهود احتواء الوباء، خاصة مع اعتماد الاستجابة بشكل أساسي على الكوادر المحلية التي تتولى مهام التشخيص والعلاج وتتبع المخالطين والتوعية المجتمعية.
ويؤكد مراقبون أن نجاح الكونغو الديمقراطية في السيطرة على تفشي إيبولا يتطلب معالجة التحديات الإدارية والمالية بالتوازي مع الإجراءات الطبية، بما يضمن استمرار عمل فرق الاستجابة دون انقطاع، ويحافظ على قدرة النظام الصحي على مواجهة واحدة من أخطر الأزمات الصحية التي تشهدها البلاد في السنوات الأخيرة.
