The head of the Egyptian Drug Authority receives an Eritrean delegation to enhance cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector.

Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, received a high-level government delegation from the Republic of Eritrea, headed by Hagos Gebrhiwet, Advisor to the Eritrean President for Economic Affairs, and including Naseer Al-Din Mohammed Saleh, Eritrean Minister of Trade and Industry, and in the presence of Ambassador Mohamed Safwat, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, in an official visit reflecting the depth of bilateral relations.
According to a statement issued by the Egyptian Drug Authority, both sides were keen to enhance prospects for joint cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector.
Expanding areas of cooperation and exchange of experiences
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi welcomed the Eritrean delegation, stressing the Egyptian Drug Authority’s pride in the close relations that unite the two countries, and its keenness to expand areas of cooperation and exchange experiences in various fields of drug regulation and control, in order to support the development of health systems and enhance their efficiency at the regional and international levels.
During the meeting, Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, stressed that the Authority places at the top of its priorities the strengthening of regional and international cooperation in the areas of drug regulation and control.

He pointed out that the tangible progress achieved in the Egyptian pharmaceutical system came as a result of a clear strategic vision and integrated institutional work aimed at ensuring the availability of safe and effective medicine in accordance with the latest international standards.
For their part, the members of the Eritrean delegation expressed their appreciation for the advanced regulatory development achieved by the Egyptian Drug Authority, praising Egypt’s attainment of the third maturity level (ML3) according to the World Health Organization’s assessment, which reflects the strength of the Egyptian regulatory framework and the confidence of international institutions in the efficiency of the pharmaceutical system.
Development of pharmaceutical systems
The visit also addressed ways of cooperation between the Egyptian Drug Authority and the National Food and Drug Authority of Eritrea (NMFA), especially in the areas of pharmaceutical product registration, quality control, and regulatory capacity building, in order to support the development of the pharmaceutical sector and enhance integration between the two sides.
This visit confirms the advanced regional position of the Egyptian Drug Authority as one of the leading regulatory models in the African continent, and its active role in supporting the development of pharmaceutical systems and enhancing access to safe and effective products.
