Burkina Faso is training 180 new officers to bolster the fight for security and stability.
The government emphasizes the importance of preparing professional personnel to confront evolving security challenges.

The city of Babri hosted Burkina FasoOn Friday, July 17, 2026, the official graduation ceremony for the tenth class of officer cadets and trainee officers at the Police Academy took place, under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Rimetalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo.

After two years of intensive training, 180 new officers are ready to join the police force and serve their country, as part of the state's efforts to strengthen the capabilities of security agencies and raise the level of professional qualification.
185 students had enrolled in the Police Academy in 2024, before 180 of them were declared qualified for service at the end of the training period, including 62 police commissioners and 118 officers.
The batch also included 80 trainees from the Republic of Chad, including 32 commissioners and 48 officers, in a move that reflects the level of cooperation and security relations between Burkina Faso and Chad, and confirms the status that the Police Academy enjoys in the field of training and qualifying security forces.
Outstanding results in training
This batch was distinguished by high training levels, with the average score of policemen reaching 16.66 out of 20, while the average score of officers reached 16.41 out of 20, which reflects the rigor and quality of the training programs provided within the Babri Police Academy.
The tenth graduating class of the Police Academy was selected under the patronage of retired Inspector General Paul Sondo, in recognition of his career and experience in the security field.
Training personnel to meet security challenges
During his speech at the graduation ceremony, the Minister of Security and Police Commissioner, Mohamedou Sanna, affirmed that the graduation of this class represents a new step in the path of building a professional security institution capable of preparing the necessary competencies to deal with changing security threats.
The minister praised the quality of training provided by the academy, the efforts of the trainers and supervisors, and the strengthening of security cooperation with the Sahel Alliance countries and the Republic of Chad.
In the context of the security battle that Burkina Faso is waging to defend its sovereignty and the security of its citizens, Mohamedou Sanna called on the new officers and commissioners to adhere to discipline, loyalty, professionalism and national integrity while performing their duties.
The Prime Minister calls on officers to uphold national values.
In order to promote a spirit of national belonging and commitment to serving the state and the people, Prime Minister Rimetalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo presented the winners with copies of the manifesto of the People's Progressive Revolution, calling on them to make patriotism the foundation of their careers.
The Prime Minister said: “We call on everyone to rise to the level of feeling a sense of duty towards the state, to embody the values of integrity and uprightness, and to be men and women of action and courage. This is what we need more than ever today to continue to reclaim our lands and bring peace to them.”.
Pledge to serve and protect citizens
In a speech delivered on behalf of the graduates, Commissioner Ramato Konate affirmed the new officers' commitment to performing their duties with honesty, courage, and integrity.
She stressed that the new security officials will work to employ their expertise in protecting citizens, defending national sovereignty, and contributing to efforts to restore areas and enhance security and stability in the country.
