The authority explained in a statement that the port continues to provide its maritime and logistical services around the clock without interruption, in order to meet the needs of shipping lines and port users.

The Damietta Port Authority also confirmed the regularity of trade in all sectors, which ensures the smooth flow of business and the maintenance of targeted operating rates.

The Prime Minister's Media Office announced in a statement on Thursday that initial investigations by the relevant authorities into the fire that affected two ships in Damietta Port On July 29, 2026, it was shown that the incident was caused by a drone.

The statement clarified that no party has claimed responsibility for the incident so far, noting that the competent authorities are continuing to complete investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident.

Earlier, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources confirmed that Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, went immediately upon receiving the report to the site of the accident to follow up on the developments of the situation on the ground, supervise the control and security work, and ensure that all safety procedures were implemented, in full coordination with the concerned authorities, to ensure that the incident was dealt with in the highest degree of safety.

The ministry explained that the incident did not result in any loss of life or injuries, while the emergency teams, in cooperation with the competent technical authorities, continue to complete the insurance work and take all necessary measures in accordance with the approved standards.

She added that the competent authorities are continuing investigations to determine the circumstances and repercussions of the incident, stressing that the situation is being closely monitored and any developments will be announced through official statements.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources called on the media and social media users to be accurate and to rely on the official statements issued by it as the only source of information related to the incident.
