The government decided Ugandan Visitors to the country and fans coming to attend the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be exempt from entry visa requirements, in a strategic move aimed at ensuring the success of the anticipated African tournament.
This decision comes as part of the intensive preparations led by Uganda in cooperation with its neighbors Kenya and Tanzania, to host the thirty-sixth edition of the continental championship (Pamoja Bid), in a move that reflects the desire to transform the championship into a tourist and economic event that goes beyond the limits of the green rectangle.
Border facilities to ensure the flow of crowds
Ugandan facilitations are not limited to unilateral visa exemption; official sources revealed that Ugandan authorities are currently studying, in cooperation with Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, the possibility of issuing a “Joint Visa”.

The initiative aims to facilitate the movement of fans and tourists across land and air borders between the three host countries, allowing fans to travel to follow their national teams’ matches in various host cities without administrative obstacles, which is unprecedented in organizing joint African tournaments.
Supporting tourism
East African countries are betting on reviving the tourism and aviation sectors by hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, with visa exemptions representing a global welcome message to fans from all over the continent and the African diaspora.

Experts believe this step will contribute to increasing hotel occupancy rates and revitalizing local markets in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, stressing that facilitating cross-border traffic will enhance the concept of regional economic integration and position the region as a leading tourist destination on the global map.
The challenge of the tripartite organization
These decisions are part of a package of logistical arrangements aimed at mitigating travel challenges between the three countries. Organizing committees are currently working to develop airport and border crossing infrastructure to accommodate the anticipated influx of people in 2027.
Ugandan officials emphasize that their goal is to deliver an exceptional edition of the Africa Cup of Nations based on smooth procedures and safe transportation, ensuring a rich experience for fans that combines the joy of football with exploring the natural beauty of the Nile Basin countries and East Africa.
