President Sisi and his Malagasy counterpart affirm the need to continue bilateral relations between the two countries.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his counterpart, Michael Randriani, President of Republic of MadagascarThe need to continue strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, especially economic, trade and investment fields.
This came during a bilateral meeting held today in El Alamein, as part of an official visit by the Malagasy president to Egypt for the first time since he took office in Madagascar.
The need to promote cooperation in promising fields
The two presidents agreed on the need to advance cooperation in a number of promising areas, including agriculture, health, transport and infrastructure, renewable energy, water resources, as well as in the area of capacity building for personnel in Madagascar.
The reception ceremony included a guard of honor saluting, the playing of the national anthems of both countries, and the taking of a commemorative photo, according to the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, Ambassador Mohamed El Shenawy.
Following the official reception ceremony, an expanded session of talks was held with the participation of the delegations of both countries, followed by the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding. This was followed by a luncheon hosted by the President in honor of the President of Madagascar and his accompanying delegation.
The official spokesperson stated that the President of Madagascar expressed his great pride in visiting Egypt, meeting the President, and the warm hospitality and reception, stressing that his visit is historic as it is the first official visit by a Malagasy President to Egypt.
He also pointed out the need to work on improving bilateral relations in various fields, expressing his appreciation for Egypt’s support for his country following the recent cyclones, and also praising the training programs provided by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development to various cadres in Madagascar.
The official spokesperson explained that the meeting also included discussions on cooperation between the two countries in the African context, including within the framework of the African Union.
