The Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries in Côte d'Ivoire, Sidi Tiémoko Touré, said that his country is counting on Moroccan expertise in the field of animal genetic improvement.

This came during the opening of a high-level international conference at the 18th edition of the International Agriculture Exhibition “SIAM”,

He revealed that this is to establish an ideal South-South cooperation model that ensures the sustainable transformation of production chains in Africa.

He stressed that the partnership with Morocco opens up promising prospects for developing genetics suitable for the continental climate, especially in light of the pressures of demographic growth, urbanization, and changing consumption patterns that increase the demand for animal protein.

He stressed that global food systems face complex challenges from climate repercussions, resource scarcity, cost volatility, and health and geopolitical risks, which call for coordinated international responses, enhanced bilateral and trilateral partnerships, and increased mobilization of agricultural adaptation financing.

He stressed that the Meknes Forum has become a prominent global reference, noting that the theme of this session on sustainable production and food sovereignty is perfectly aligned with Ivorian priorities and the challenges currently facing the international community.
