William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, announced that starting The project to rebuild and expand the Goussi Stadium is a step aimed at developing sports infrastructure and raising the efficiency of facilities in accordance with international standards.
Ruto explained that the project is part of a comprehensive national program aimed at creating advanced sports infrastructure, including the development of the Goose Stadium, along with the implementation of major projects such as Talanta Sports City, as well as the creation of 25 new sports facilities and the modernization of a number of existing facilities throughout the country.
Groundwork for the construction of the Goose Stadium
President Ruto wrote on his official X social media page, “The groundwork has begun for the construction of the 1 billion Kenyan shilling Gusi Stadium, which will have a capacity of 14,000 spectators and will include a FIFA-standard pitch and an eight-lane track. It is scheduled for completion in April 2027.”.

He pointed out that these efforts aim to provide an ideal environment for the growth and development of Kenyan athletes, enabling them to invest their talents and achieve a sustainable income through sports, within the framework of supporting the sports economy and enhancing the role of the sports sector in development.
The cost of the Goose Stadium
The project details include the laying of the foundation stone for the Gosi Stadium, at an estimated cost of one billion Kenyan shillings. The stadium will have a capacity of 14,000 spectators and will feature a FIFA-standard pitch, as well as an eight-lane athletics track. The project is scheduled for completion by April 2027.

On the sidelines of the events, a new bus was delivered to Shabana FC, and the President also attended a friendly match between Shabana FC and Gocha FC, amid a large crowd, in a scene that reflects the growing interest in developing sports in Kenya.
