The three prisoners were in “Al-Arjat 2” prison, located northeast of the capital, Rabat.
Riots during the Africa Cup of Nations final match
They were transported by a Royal Gendarmerie vehicle to a police station near the city of Salé, before being officially released after the completion of legal procedures.

They were received by representatives of the Senegalese embassy, in a scene that reflects direct diplomatic follow-up on the fans’ case since the outbreak of the crisis, and a keenness to ensure that the procedures are completed in an official and organized manner.
Statements by a Senegalese fan
One fan said, “Always Morocco, always Morocco,” in a remarkable gesture reflecting gratitude to the country that hosted the event, despite the tensions that the match witnessed.
The case remains open on several fronts, as 15 other Senegalese fans are serving prison sentences ranging from six months to a year.
This came after the sentences issued against them were upheld during the appeal stage, due to their involvement in the riots that accompanied the match.
