The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official decision that includes the appointment of a number of ambassadors and ministers plenipotentiary to new leadership positions, in addition to amending the titles of a number of positions, effective from specific dates.
According to the decision, Minister Plenipotentiary Mohamed Mohamed Fouad Abdullah Ahmed was appointed Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Minister’s Office, Ambassador Mohamed Salah El-Din Mohamed El-Sherif was appointed Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Judicial Affairs, Ambassador Mai Taha Mohamed Khalil Ali was appointed Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs and Australian, New Zealand and Pacific Islands Affairs, and Ambassador Mohamed Tharwat Mohamed Selim was appointed Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Diplomatic and Consular Corps and Inspection.
The reshuffle also included the appointment of Ambassador Khaled Mohamed Sameh Anis as Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs, Ambassador Hani Salah Mustafa Ahmed as Assistant Foreign Minister for Sudan and South Sudan Affairs, Ambassador Nahla Mohamed Essam El-Din El-Zawahiri as Assistant Foreign Minister for International Conferences, and Ambassador Mahmoud Mustafa Mahmoud Ahmed Afifi as Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights and International Social and Humanitarian Affairs.
The appointments also included Ambassador Dessouki Mahmoud Youssef Mahmoud as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Legal Affairs and Treaties, Ambassador Shadi Gamal El-Din Mohamed El-Sharkawy as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Parliamentary Affairs, and Ambassador Sherif Abdel Hamid Imam Ismail as Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry's Overseas Buildings Financing Authority.
The reshuffle also included the appointment of Ambassador Khaled Fadi Mahmoud El Shazly as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Communications, Information Systems and Digital Transformation, Ambassador Ahmed Taher Ahmed El Fadly as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Combating International Terrorism, Corruption and Transnational Crime, Ambassador Barakat Ali Abu El Barakat El Leithy as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Palestinian Affairs, and Ambassador Nevin Osama Mohamed El Husseini as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Immigration.
The reshuffle also included the appointment of Ambassador Baher Farouk Ahmed Shweikhi as Assistant Foreign Minister for Security, Ambassador Ahmed Abdullah Ibrahim Hafez as Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs, and Ambassador Ehab Mustafa Yahya Suleiman as Assistant Foreign Minister for Protocol Affairs.
The decision also included amending the titles of some positions, with Ambassador Mohamed Omar Mohamed Gad assuming the position of Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Organizations and Groupings, and Ambassador Mohamed Samir Mohamed Helmy Marzouk assuming the position of Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Sayed Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Al-Salahi was appointed as Acting Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Complaints and Grievances of Ministry Members, and Ambassador Basil Salah Mustafa Ahmed as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Libyan Affairs.
In a separate item, Ambassador Hisham Abdel Salam Mustafa Al-Maqoud was appointed as Director of the Cairo International Center for Training on Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding, effective from the date he assumed his duties.
The decision also amended the name of the Research, Assessments, Political Planning and Crisis Management Sector to become the Political Planning and Crisis Management Sector, and appointed Ambassador Nazih Ali Bahaa El-Din El-Nagari, of the Excellent Class, as Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for this sector, effective from the date of the decision.
These appointments come as part of an organizational movement within the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs aimed at supporting the various sectors of diplomatic work and enhancing the efficiency of performance in priority regional and international files.
