The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Eritrean capital, Asmara, held a reception on the occasion of the seventy-fourth anniversary of the July 23 Revolution, on July 17, 2026, at the residence of the Egyptian Ambassador, amidst a high-level official and diplomatic presence reflecting the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of Eritrean ministers and senior officials, led by the ministers of foreign affairs, justice, information, health, tourism, land, water, environment, public works, transport, communications and education, along with a number of senior officials of the Eritrean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and directors of various departments.
Wide participation from officials and diplomats
The ceremony was also attended by a number of leaders of the ruling party in Eritrea, including the Eritrean President’s Advisor for Economic Affairs, the President’s Advisor for Political Affairs, and the party’s Organizational Affairs Officer, in addition to ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, chargés d’affaires, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of the United Nations and international organizations accredited in Asmara.
The broad participation in the celebration reflects the importance of Egyptian-Eritrean relations and the shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in various political, economic and developmental fields.
The Egyptian ambassador reviews the development of bilateral relations
During the ceremony, the Egyptian Ambassador to Eritrea, Hatem Al-Atwi, delivered a speech in which he addressed various aspects of the development of bilateral relations between Cairo and Asmara, stressing the importance of the historical ties that bind the two countries, and Egypt’s keenness to continue supporting cooperation with Eritrea in areas of common interest.

The Egyptian ambassador pointed to the development of relations between the two countries over the past years, and the ongoing coordination on a number of regional and international issues, especially given the importance of the Red Sea and Horn of Africa region for regional security and stability.
Celebrating Egyptian heritage during the ceremony
The event included a dinner banquet for the guests featuring a selection of popular Egyptian foods and drinks, in a festive atmosphere aimed at showcasing a part of Egyptian culture and heritage to the attendees.

The celebration of the anniversary of the July 23 Revolution in Asmara comes within the framework of the Egyptian embassies around the world’s keenness to commemorate national occasions and strengthen bridges of communication with sisterly and friendly countries, in order to support diplomatic and cultural relations between Egypt and various countries of the world.
