85 million CFA francs to build a wall for the regional gendarmerie brigade in Burkina Faso

A popular initiative in Burkina Faso adopted the construction of a wall for the regional Gendarmerie brigade in Niougoafter raising over 85 million African francs, which led to the construction of a new wall to enhance the security of local residents.
The initiative, titled “Cement Package for Building the Wall of the Regional Gendarmerie Legion in Niagu”, witnessed the inauguration of the long-awaited project on July 4, 2026, amidst great joy and satisfaction from the project implementers and beneficiaries.

The opening ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Security, Police Commissioner Mahamadou Sano, accompanied by Colonel Issa Yagibou, Chief of Staff of the Gendarmerie Nationale, and in the presence of administrative, traditional, and religious dignitaries, who praised the importance of this civilian participation and the active role of the population in building security.
The regional gendarmerie in Niago is now fully operational, providing its personnel with a conducive environment to faithfully carry out their mission of ensuring the safety of people and their property, thanks to the exemplary mobilization of local residents, expatriates, and many partners.
The project costs 85 million African francs
More than 85 million African francs have been collected for this project, enabling the construction of a complete perimeter fence around the approximately 1.5-hectare site, the renovation of the regional gendarmerie building, the refurbishment of the flagpole flying the national colors, and the connection of the gendarmerie to an artesian well with a water tank to ensure its water supply.
These achievements reflect the desire of the people of Nyaogo to provide a more effective, safe, and suitable working environment for their teams, in line with the republican tasks entrusted to them.
In addition to its function of protecting the Brigade's facilities, this wall represents a living symbol of the community's commitment to public service.
The Importance of Strengthening Ties Between the Army and the People in Burkina Faso
In his speech, Colonel Issa Yaacoub explained the importance of strengthening the strong bonds between the army and the nation among the country's highest authorities, as demonstrated by the construction of the wall surrounding the Regional Gendarmerie Brigade in Niagué by local citizens.

Colonel Yaacoub views this wall not as merely a brick barrier, but as an impenetrable fortress built on unity, solidarity, and civic participation. It provides officers with a more conducive and secure working environment, enhancing their peace of mind and operational effectiveness.
The Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie seized the opportunity to remind everyone that, despite our diverse backgrounds and skills, the unity of our spirits, and the synergy of our efforts, each of us, in our own capacity, plays a crucial role in building a new Burkina Faso, the Burkina Faso we aspire to, a project that began under the leadership of our Comrade, the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who has achieved great and unprecedented accomplishments in a short period.
On this occasion, the National Gendarmerie renewed its commitment to working side-by-side with other defense and security forces, the people, and all local stakeholders to preserve peace, security, and social cohesion.
The ceremony concluded with a symbolic ribbon-cutting, followed by a tour of the facilities and a group photo, in an atmosphere of camaraderie and satisfaction.
