The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, visited the new administrative capital in Egypt, on the sidelines of his official mission to Cairo, where he was briefed on the most prominent features of the project, which is one of the largest modern urban development projects in the region, and embodies Egypt’s ambitious vision for modernization and urban development.
The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo visits the new administrative capital.
During the visit, project officials accompanied the Congolese delegation on a field tour that included a number of strategic facilities and installations in the New Administrative Capital, including administrative districts, cultural areas, and business centers that have already entered operation, in addition to reviewing the efforts made in the areas of urban planning, infrastructure and smart services.

The visit comes in the wake of the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Arab Republic of Egypt in the field of urban development, a step that reflects the two countries' keenness to enhance joint cooperation and exchange experiences in the fields of urban planning and sustainable development.
The agreement aims to benefit from Egypt’s pioneering experience in establishing new cities and developing modern infrastructure, in order to support the Democratic Republic of Congo’s efforts in implementing its future development projects, especially in the capital, Kinshasa.
The visit falls within the framework of enhancing the exchange of experiences and successful practices between the two countries, as the Democratic Republic of Congo seeks to benefit from Egyptian expertise in implementing the Kinshasa Kia Muna project, which represents one of the most prominent urban transformation projects in the country, and aims to transform the capital Kinshasa into a modern, sustainable urban center capable of competing economically at the regional level.

The visit reflects the Congolese leadership's interest in learning about successful models in urban planning and smart city management, in light of the increasing challenges associated with population growth and urban expansion in the African continent.
This step also confirms the growing Egyptian-Congolese cooperation in developmental and strategic fields, and opens new horizons for partnership between the two countries in the infrastructure, housing and urban development sectors, which contributes to supporting sustainable development efforts and achieving the aspirations of African peoples towards more developed, efficient and able cities to meet the requirements of the future.
